Our History

Our History

We proudly service all of Northwest Colorado including the towns of Craig, Hayden, Maybell and Oak Creek, Phippsburg, Yampa and Toponas upon request. We also service the families of the Little Snake River Valley in the communities of Baggs, Dixon and Savery, Wyoming and Slater, Colorado and surrounding areas.

I. J. Robacker came to Craig in 1919 to open a furniture store and a funeral home.  He operated the funeral home for 35 year until selling to John and Lorene Zobel when it then became the Zobel Mortuary. They operated the mortuary until selling to their sons Bruce and William in 1976.  A year later, Bruce bought his brothers interest.  In 1980 Bruce sold to Owen Grant when it then became the Grant Mortuary.

Recently to better serve the families of Meeker and Rio Blanco County, Owen Grant opened the location at 345 6th Street, Meeker.

Rick Allnutt and Susan Hughes purchased both locations in August  2014 and now actively carry on the 100 year old tradition of serving the Craig, Meeker and the surrounding communities.
